butterfly, Danaus plexippus. The project is directed by Orley R. "Chip"
Taylor and staff within the Entomology Program at the University of Kansas.
Regional Monarch Watch coordinators throughout the United States and Canada
assist by recruiting volunteers in their areas.

FEMA & FEMA for KIDS -
The Federal Emergency Management Agency - an independent
agency reporting to the President and tasked with responding to, planning
for, recovering from and mitigating against disaster - can trace its beginnings
to the Congressional Act of 1803. This act, generally considered the first
piece of disaster legislation, provided assistance to a New Hampshire
town following an extensive fire. In the century that followed, ad hoc
legislation was passed more than 100 times in response to hurricanes,
earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters.

Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday
of April. Time reverts to standard time at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October.
In the European Union, it starts at 1 am the last Sunday in March, and ends the last
Sunday in October.
Daylight Saving Time, for the U.S. and its territories, is NOT observed in Hawaii,
American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Eastern Time Zone portion
of the State of Indiana, and the state of Arizona (not the Navajo Indian Reservation,
which does observe). Navajo Nation participates in the Daylight Saving Time policy, due

Fire Prevention Week 2000 -
The theme of this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign is "Fire Drills: The Great Escape!" Postcards from America: 50 State Travel Adventure -
Does the call of the open road tug at your heartstrings? Then c'mon. Travel with them as they discover America, seeing all 50 states and their capitals!
Their "Discover America" adventure began on Columbus Day 1999 at dawn, atop Cadillac Mountain in Maine (the first place the sun rises on America). The trip will end this week at sunset in Lands End, Hawaii (the last place the sun sets on America).

In addition, you can insert up to ten, custom, color-coded personal time segments (events or ranges) in a time line. These might include schooling, marriages, births, job assignments, military service and so forth.
