FEMA for KIDS The Federal Emergency Management Agency - an independent agency reporting to the President and tasked with responding to, planning for, recovering from and mitigating against disaster - can trace its beginnings to the Congressional Act of 1803. This act, generally considered the first piece of disaster legislation, provided assistance to a New Hampshire town following an extensive fire. In the century that followed, ad hoc legislation was passed more than 100 times in response to hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters. Ask Judi! This week's question comes from Ruth Ann: "I am the computer coordinator/teacher at a K-8 school and I have written a WebQuest on bubble gum for my eighth grade students. As a culminating activity, I would like them to make their own new flavor of bubble gum. However, I cannot find a basic recipe. I can find the ingredients, but not the amounts. " Sure, Ruth Ann! *I suspect that you may have to purchase some "ready-made" special materials/kits that include hard to find ingredients, but you should be able to experiment with different flavors.
Enjoy! Each week, I'll use this area to answer questions that have been streaming in from YOU! As the saying goes, "If you have a question or comment, chances are that others have it too!" So please write us at EduHoundWeekly@eduhound.com and watch for your answer here!
