WELCOME to the 102nd Issue of EduHound Weekly!

From the Desk of Judi!

This week's topic is:

SEPTEMBER 11 COMMEMORATION

As we commemorate the events of September 11, 2001, we may look for ways to reflect upon this sensitive and often graphic topic. According to experts, schools should carefully plan any event that commemorates the first anniversary of September 11. What's most important is that the activity reflect what your students need.

I've put together this list of resources, but urge you to review each one carefully to make sure it's appropriate to present to your intended audience -- especially younger students.

Some sites to help in this effort:

EduHound Spotlight Site of the Week!

In honor of September 11th, this week's featured site is:

Remember September 11th
http://neahin.org/programs/schoolsafety/september11/materials/lessonhome.htm

The Remember September 11th site was designed by the NEA to the most complete resource site for teachers and education support personnel in the respectful commemoration of the first anniversary of that tragic day. The site contains over 80 Lesson Plans - divided by grade level. In the weeks that follow Sept. 11th, the site will evolve into an ongoing resource for teachers in helping students and themselves to handle times of crisis, tragedy and remembrance.

Remember!

Ask Judi!

This week's question comes from Gina:

"I've submitted my classroom web site several times for listing on your site, but I can never locate it? Is there something else I need to be doing?"

A few things, Gina!

Whether you are submitting an educational, school, or classroom web site, they all have one thing in common -- they all have a unique address or URL.

There are a few reasons why your web site may not be able to be listed on EduHound:

  1. Web site addresses or URLs must be exact. Meaning that you will not be able to view EduHound at www.eduhound.com, if you've mistakingly typed www.eduhuond.com.
  2. If you're not certain what the web site address of your school, classroom, etc. is, simply view the site on your computer's browser and copy the exact URL from the address bar at the top.
  3. Often times we review a site where they may be having technical difficulties and it not visible, which is most likely out of your hands, but we do give each submitted site a few attempts over the course of a week or so for this very reason.
  4. This rarely happens, but someone may submit an inappropriate site to EduHound, which is reviewed and immediately removed from consideration.

If you have any further questions or need addition clarification, just email me.

Good Luck!

Each week, I'll use this area to answer your questions, post announcements, and provide interesting input! So please email me at EduHoundWeekly@eduhound.com and watch for your answer here!
