WEEKLY READER’S PROMOTE THE VOTE CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF

http://www.weeklyreader.com/election/index.asp

With the busy presidential political season upon us, Weekly Reader teachers in more than 60,000 classrooms will receive special election teaching tools this year to get students interested in the electoral process and the major election issues. Teachers nationwide will receive election kits filled with teacher’s guides, posters, books and bookmarks.

“Our primary goal at Weekly Reader is to teach reading and writing across the curriculum,” said Emily Swenson, President of Weekly Reader. “Since it is an election year, we will also be promoting the vote and teaching about the election process. In addition to all the valuable resources teachers will receive this year, we will also have contests to get students active in the process.”

As part of the Promote the Vote campaign, Weekly Reader students will get the chance to cast their vote in the famous Weekly Reader Presidential Election Poll. Since 1956, students in grades 1 through 12 have correctly picked the winning president! Teachers will also be able to get daily updates on the presidential race on Weekly Reader’s award-winning Web site.

Good Luck!
