From the Desk of Judi!

This week's topic is:

BACK-TO-SCHOOL: FALL 2003

Welcome Back! I hope all of you enjoyed your summer as much as I did. I'm looking forward to another year of sharing the best educational information and resources the Web has to offer! And don't be shy. I welcome your comments, suggestions and questions!

So let's wake up our minds and start the school year off right!

Some sites to help in this effort:

  • DNA Interactive
An educational web site resource that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA double helix structure.
    http://www.dnai.org

  • The Natural History Museum's Wildlife Garden
Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside in the heart of London - hundreds of wild flowers, dragonflies flitting across the ponds and birds visiting or nesting in the garden.
    http://www.nhm.ac.uk/museum/garden/

  • NYC Mid-Manhattan Library: Picture Collection Online
Covering over 12,000 subjects, the Picture Collection is an extensive circulating collection and reference archive, the largest of its kind in any public library system.
    http://picturecollection.nypl.org

  • Paper Plate Education
This site cleverly reduces complex notions down to simple explanations for kids of all ages. Projects use ordinary paper plates to demonstrate concepts from astronomy, math, geography, and other subjects.
