Ask Judi!

This week's question comes from a Student Teacher:

"I was just wondering if you've done an e-mail about weather. My students are about to start a unit on it.  I've found several sources from the NASA website. If you could help me out on a few more sites, I would greatly appreciate it!"

Certainly

Here are some sites to get you started:

  • The Weather Classroom from The Weather Channel
Offers a comprehensive collection of weather-related content, including lesson plans for educators, an interactive weather forecast for students, and a weather word glossary and storm encyclopedia for parents.
    http://www.weatherclassroom.com

  • National Weather Service - Teacher Resources
Materials range from coloring books, puzzles and games, to lesson plans, brochures, satellite images, and career information for weather related fields, such as meteorology, hydrology and climatology.
    http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/edures.htm

  • Weather Watch @ Scholastic
Contains information on the science of weather: from different weather elements that you probably know about, like temperature and rain, to more complicated ideas such as air pressure and wind chill.
    http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/wwatch/reporters/central/index.htm

  • WeatherEye Teacher's Lounge
Weather education Web site designed to be used in classrooms. It includes weather lessons, projects and more.
    http://weathereye.kgan.com/lounge/index.html

Good Luck!

Each week, I'll use this area to answer your questions, post announcements, and provide interesting input! So please email me at EduHoundWeekly@eduhound.com and watch for your answer here!
