WELCOME to the 83rd Issue of EduHound Weekly!

From the Desk of Judi!

This week's topic is:

A SITE FOR EACH SUBJECT

Understandably, so many of you have written asking about specific subject-related resources. Therefore, I've decided to present one great resource site for a variety of subjects this week.

Some sites of interest:

Note: Instead of copying and pasting these links into your browser, simply go to www.eduhound.com/mainpage.cfm and select your subject category.

Good Luck!

Judi

EduHound Spotlight Site of the Week!

In honor of all Subjects, this week's featured site is:

PBS TeacherSource
http://www.pbs.org/teachersource/

PBS TeacherSource materials are developed by trained and practicing educators. In addition to having teachers create curriculum materials, PBS regularly seeks educator feedback through surveys and focus groups, receives ongoing guidance from the team of exemplary teachers who make up the TeacherSource Advisory Group, and conducts periodic "reality checks" with the PBS Education Committee representing various educational organizations. Finally, the TeacherSource editorial staff is composed of educators with a variety of teaching backgrounds.

Enjoy!

Ask Judi!

This week's question comes from Andrea:

"I am currently doing my student teaching. I am putting together a thematic unit on the rainforest for my fourth grade. I am having a very hard time finding information and where to get materials for it. Any suggestions you can make would be greatly appreciated."

Here you go, Andrea!

Rainforests are defined and created by rainfall: more than eighty inches per year. Tropical rainforests are located near the equator, a majority of them in Latin America. Temperate rainforests are found in coastal areas, such as the 1,200 miles of temperate rainforest that stretches along the Pacific coast from Oregon to Alaska.

Good Luck!

Each week, I'll use this area to answer your questions, post announcements, and provide interesting input! So please email me at EduHoundWeekly@eduhound.com and watch for your answer here!

NEWS FROM EDUMATCH

We told you about the new Premium Program for districts from our friends at www.edumatch.com a while ago. It's starting to catch on and several districts have enrolled. That's great news.

This is the free (yes, free!) service that will match your state's curriculum standards to over 4,000 curriculum software titles and give district administrators unprecedented control over the acquisition process.

Districts that subscribe to the edumatch Premium Program get a revolutionary new tool for complying with state curriculum standards and a system of checks and balances for controlling district spending on software.

There's much more, of course. We encourage you to go to www.edumatch.com and click on Premium Program on the home page. If you're as impressed by what you see as we were, click on the bright red email us and let the folks at edumatch tell you more.

And don't forget: We think it's the only way to buy software that makes sense! edumatch matches curriculum software from over 150 publishers to your state's curriculum standards, your teaching style, your students and your hardware: http://www.eduhound.com/edumatch/main.html
