Ask Judi! This week's question comes from Susan: "I teach in a moderately large elementary school (almost 600 students, grade K-6). We started the Accelerated Reader program last year. I am in charge of motivating students to read and teachers to support this program. We have very limited (close to nonexistant) financial support from the district. Fund raising is not an option. Essentially I have to come up with an incentive program that: 1. Motivates the students (especially grades 5 & 6) to read, read, read! 2. Requires little to no extra work for the classroom teacher (who already have enough on their plate). 3. Costs little to no money. Would you please provide some resources for ideas that have worked in other schools, or post this request so that other teachers may send in some ideas that they've used? Thank you for your help." Certainly, Susan Here are some sites to get you started:
Good Luck! Each week, I'll use this area to answer your questions, post announcements, and provide interesting input! So please email me at EduHoundWeekly@eduhound.com and watch for your answer here!
